April 27, 2015

What a week!! Sometimes the weeks here if you blink you will miss them and thats what it feels like happened this week!
The end of the transfers were this week and I will be staying in Citrus Ridge again! I am really happy about that because I am excited to see the Dietz family progress.
Speaking about the Dietz family we were able to see them a couple times this week and had a good time reading in the Book of Mormon. Every time we read with the family the husband understands what he reads sooooo well. He soaks up what we have to share every time. I can't wait to share Gods plan for His Children this week!! The Husband was able to come to church this week with the kids but the wife was sick. The wife has a friend in Maryland where they are from that is a member and she says whenever she has a question she just asks her friend and she explains everything to her. Super sweet!! I can really tell how the message that we have is impacting their family.
The members are amazing in this ward as well! This week the family that is their fellow shippers took them cookies and just got to know the Dietz pretty well. That is what this church is all about. In the church that Christ set up everyone is friends and loves each other. The members are an essential role in missionary work.
I have been able to see both sides of the stick.
The Ackerman family didn't have solid member friends and have been to church 1 time from the time they have been baptized. The missionaries are not going to be in the ward forever but the members are! That fellowship is essential to conversion.
Jason came to church again Hallelujah!!! He is now baptism worthy but we will wait on it and pray about baptizing him because I don't have the greatest feeling that he will be a solid member and come to church every week. Right now we are his connection to the church.
This week we went to training in Tampa. It was my 2nd time going to the training but Elder Swallow hasn't been yet. It was great to sit back and just learn things.
This week I have learned a key principle in missionary work. That is using our personalities! I know it seems like common sense but there are so many missionaries that just get caught up in the routine and become robots and don't connect with people! If you connect with people they will be more willing to listen because they consider you a friend not a salesman classic missionary. Missionaries are often the first impression people have of the church. Even if they aren't accepting of the message then at least they have a good impression of the church. I love talking to people and connecting with them. Be a friend then share the gospel.
A member showed me how to tie ties in a cool way! let me know which one you like best!! The ties that look the best with the knots are Perry Ellis ties or just ties that have 2 designs.
Thank you for all the love and support!
Love,
Elder Gardner
